Santa Letter Boxes

Letter boxes taking shape
Young people participating in the construction program have been busily preparing for the upcoming festive season by making 15 Santa letter boxes for donation to the Ipswich City Council. The letter boxes, which will be located in the Ipswich Central Library and the 10 divisional councillors’ offices, will receive letters from primary school students across the Ipswich region for delivery to Santa. Primary students are being encouraged to write to Santa as part of their Term 4 letter writing studies.
Lyndall Hill from the Joining Together project who has coordinated the letter box initiative is hoping to harness as many older community members as possible to write individual replies to all the primary students who write to Santa. It is also anticipated that all the Ipswich Councillors will attend their local primary school to meet the Kindy, Prep or Year 1 classes and their teachers with their letter box and collect the letters and return the replies.  The letter box project links in with the Santa Comes to Ipswich theme and the Lighting of the City closer to Christmas.
