DeforestACTION

The industrious and clever students and teachers from Middle School have joined together to save the rainforests through a project called DeforestACTION.  DeforestACTION is a global movement of youth and schools taking action to stop deforestation and create a permanent habitat for orang-utans and other species that depend on forest ecosystems. The project is currently focused on the forests of Indonesia, where widespread illegal deforestation has made the country the number three emitter of greenhouse gas emissions in the world.

When students heard about a way to buy a patch for rainforest to monitor and save it from logging, they brainstormed ways to raise money for this valuable environmental cause. What better way than cute cupcakes decorated to represent endangered animals.  The classes enlisted the support of our fabulous Home Ec teacher and sold adorable cupcakes to all the teachers.

The money raised is now being put to good use by DeforestACTION to save the Borneo rainforests and its inhabitants. Well done Middle School and thank you to those who supported the project.
